Filipina university prexy elected head of Southeast Asian association
LOS BANOS, Laguna – A Philippine state university woman president has been elected head of a Southeast Asian body of professionals.
Dr. Cecilia Gascon of the Southern Luzon State University ( SLSU) in Lucban, Quezon, was chosen president of the Regional SEARCA Alumni Association ( RSSA).
RSAA is composed of the alumni associations in the 11 member- nations of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization ( SEAMEO) whose members have earned their doctoral ( Phd) and master’s ( MS) degrees as scholars of the SEAMEO Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture ( SEARCA).
Aside from Dr. Gascon (a UP Los Banos alumna), others elected as RSAA officers were Dr. Aulia Tasman, rector (president) of the University of Jambi in Indonesia, vice president; Jennifer Peña Fronteras of UP-Mindanao in Davao City, execu- tive secretary/treasurer; Dr. Lorenzo Lapitan Jr. of Cavite State University, PRO; and country alumni association representatives to the RSAA governing council.
