Phil, James bare Clear Dream Match rosters

-

Team Phil goes for a title repeat while Team James seeks to even things up when the Younghusbands banner their respective squads in the Clear Dream Match kicking off on Aug. 24 at the University of Makati football field.

After more than four weeks of online balloting, which drew thousands of votes on the Clear Facebook page, Team Phil and Team James finalized their respective rosters for the second edition of the faceoff ruled by Team Phil last year.

“The rivalry this year is so intense. Throughout the four weeks both brothers were really gunning for that first pick,” said Drew Copuyoc, brand manager of Clear, the number one men’s shampoo brand which is presenting the unique football match between two teams built around the Younghusband brothers and backstopped by the country’s leading players, including the Philippine Azkals, the United Football Leagues stars and celebrities.

World Cup champion Fabio Cannavaro and football legend Dennis Wise will grace the keenly-awaited event sponsored by Smart, Greenwich, Seda Hotels, Adidas, Gatorade, Rappler and TechnoMarine.

Tickets to the match are available at all SM ticket outlets.

Team Phil, which garnered more than 100,000 on-line points, picked Carlie De Murga, Park Min Ho, Jeff Christaens, OJ Porteria, and Patrick Deyto and Chad Gould, for winning last year’s match-up, in the first round then tapped Jinggoy Valmayor, Masanari Omura, Byeong Yeol Jeong, Chris Greatwich, Boyet Canedo, Anton Del Rosario, Nick O’Donnel, Sam YG, Mikko Mabanag, Armand Del Rosario and Ronald Batisla Ong in the second round. Rufo Sanchez was the team’s wild card pick.

Team James, on the other hand, got Yves Ashime, Jason De Jong, Misagh Bahadoran, Saba Garmaroudi, and Oussenyou Diop in the first round and selected Roxy Dorlas, Tony Toni, Chieffy Caligdong, Nico Bolzico, Jonah Romero, Ian Araneta, Simon Greatwich, Andrew Santiago, Daniel Matsunaga, Fabio Ide, Slick Rick and Ref Cuaresma in the second round with Izzo Elhabib as the wild card choice.

“I’m so excited for the game, I think I have made the right selection and look forward to defending my title as the better Younghusband,” said Phil.

For his part, James said: “It’s going to be a lot of fun, it’s going to be such an honor to share the playing field with legends such as Cannavaro and Wise.”
