PGT Q-School slated for local, foreign pros

The ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour holds a two-part qualifying school for the 2014 circuit beginning next week for the local pros with the -School for foreign bets set early next year at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

Registrati­on is ongoing for the local elims slated Dec. 2- 6 at Eagle Ridge’s Norman Course. All pros who failed to make the Top 40 in the just-concluded 2013 ICTSI PGT are required to go through the -School. It is also open to amateurs with handicaps of two (maximum 2.4 index).

Deadline for listup for the local -School is on Nov. 29.

The organizing Pilipinas Golf Tournament­s, Inc. also decided to conduct a separate -School for foreign pros to accommodat­e the growing number of entries who have signified their intention to play in Asia’s fastest growing pro golf league.

The foreign -School will be held Jan. 13-17 at Eagle Ridge’s Aoki layout with deadline for registrati­on is on Jan. 10.

Dutch Guido Van der Valk topped the 2013 - School at Splendido with Japanese Tomokazu Yoshinaga and Toru Nakajima and South Koreans Phil Cho, Wooram Suh, Park Jun Song, Micah Shin, Hanmil Jung and amateur Byron Cho also making it to the tournament proper.

The top 30 players after the 72-hole tournament will gain cards for the upcoming 2014 season.

A richer, bigger tour has been lined up for next year’s circuit following the successful staging of this year’s circuit featuring 15 legs, including eight P2.5 million, four-day events.
