Gantimpala summer musical theater workshops

Artistic director Joel Lamangan and Jun Flavier Pablo as chairman and president of the Board, announce the final call for their summer workshops.

Courses are Children’s Musical Theater, Musical Theater for Teens and Young Adults and Advanced Musical Theater.

Classes are being conducted Mondays to Thursdays at the Rehearsal Hall of the Open Air Auditorium, starting on April 21 ending with a culminatin­g recital on May 24.

Facilitato­rs are Lodie Atis (Children’s Musical Theater), Jose Je rey Camañag (Musical Theater for Teens and Young Adults) and Roeder Camañag (Advanced Musical Theater).

Directors Joel, Jose Javier Reyes, Soxie Topacio, Mark Reyes; play- wrights Bonifacio Ilagan, Ed Maranan, Jose Victor Torres and Jose Dennis Teodosio; light designers Joey Nombres and Joseph Matheu; comedians Lou Veloso, Arnell Ignacio and Manny Castañeda and comedienne­s Beverly Salviejo, Kakai Bautista and Tessie Tomas; dramatic and character actors Ricky Davao, Tommy Abuel, Pen Medina, Ronnie Lazaro, Joonie Gamboa, Spanky Manikan, Richard Quan, Migui Moreno, Marcus Madrigal; dancers-turned-actors Wowie de Guzman, Gerry Oliva; matinee idols Jao Mapa, Ivan Dorschner; singers Gerald Santos and RJ Jimenez; TV host and commercial model Valerie Tan and Bb Gandanghar­i, are some of famous names that consider Gantimpala Theater as their home, which was once headed by the late theater icon Tony Espejo.

Gantimpala Theater is 37-year-old dramatic arts company with a theater season of the Four Classics — Florante at Laura, Kanser (Noli Me Tangere), Ibong Adarna and El Filibuster­ismo, a Filipino musical Sandosenan­g Sapatos, the touring musicals The Little Prince and Katipunan, Mga Anak ng Bayan.

This year’s summer workshop is in partnershi­p with National Parks Developmen­t Committee (NPDC).
