Britain’s Camilla ‘devastated’ by brother’s death in fall

N N A P Camilla, wife of ritain’s Prince Charles, was on ednesday left “utterly devastated” after her brother died in an accident during a night out in New ork, Clarence House said.

nvironment­al campaigner ark Shand, 2, fell and hit his head on the pavement outside the ose ar at anhattan’s Gramercy Park Hotel late Tuesday after attending a charity event.

He was taken to ellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on ednesday, according to the New ork Police epartment.

“It is with deep sadness that we have to confirm that the uchess of Cornwall’s brother, ark Shand, has today passed away in New ork,” said a spokesman for Clarence House, Charles’s official office.

“Shand died in hospital as a result of a serious head in ury which he sustained during a fall last night.

“The uchess, the Prince of ales and all her family members are utterly devastated by this sudden and tragic loss.”

Shand, who leaves behind a 1 -year-old daughter, was chairman of the “lephant amily,” a charity supporting the Asian elephant.

Clarence House called him “a tireless campaigner and conservati­onist... whose work through the lephant amily and beyond remained his focus right up until his death.”

Shand’s former wife and mother of his daughter Aye- sha is rench actress Clio Goldsmith, cousin of ritish socialite emima Khan and lawmaker ames Goldsmith.

Khan, former wife of Pakistan cricket legend and politician Imran Khan, tweeted “ IP ark Shand est man, godfather to my son my cousin’s e .”

Her e -husband added his tribute, writing “Shocked and saddened to learn of the death of one of my closest nglish friends, ark Shand, in New ork where he was raising funds for charity.”
