NGCP brings light to Bukidnon school

-

The students of the Labuagon Elementary School in Kibawe, Bukidnon, numbering 235, no longer have to study in the dark. Through the assistance of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) and the First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative Inc. (Fibeco), the school finally had power connection last March 25.

The NGCP extended financial assistance for the purchase of construction and house wiring materials while Fibeco provided free labor and donated drop wires, electric meter and meter box for the school’s use. The school will be taking care of the electricity bills and the wiring materials’ maintenance.

School principal Roger Zafra thanked the benefactors for responding to their request and for donating their time and materials to the school.

NGCP president and CEO Henry Sy Jr. expressed the company’s support to the school. “Electric connection, a basic need of the Labuagon Elementary School, is something the NGCP and our partner distribution utility, Fibeco, can easily provide. This simple project will bring so much ease on the working conditions of the students and faculty,” he said.

NGCP officials joined Romeo Pacanan and Armando Cantoy of Fibeco, Carmelita Tina-an of the Department of Education, Lucas Auxtero and Ricardo Visto of the local government unit, and Rodelo Pontillas of the school’s parent-teacher association in witnessing the turnover ceremony.

The NGCP also conducted a transmission line safety and security talk during the event.
