Transfer of child abuse case vs Italian diplomat sought

he complainan­t in the human traffickin­g and child abuse charges against talian diplomat Daniele osio is seeking the transfer of the preliminar­y investigat­ion from the i an City prosecutor’s office to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila.

Prosecutor eneral Claro Arellano, head of DOJ’s prosecutor­ial arm, disclosed this yesterday and said they would look into the re uest.

Arellano said the re uest was made by representa­tives of ahay uluyan oundation, a group protecting children’s rights.

According to them, they cannot get justice in i an as there have been reports of mounting pressure from talian and local defense counsels, Arellano told reporters.

Police arrested osio on April 5 at the Splash sland resort in aguna after they were alerted by members of ahay uluyan that the talian diplomat had checked in at the resort with three children.

ahay uluyan officials ily lordelis and Catherine Scerri alleged that osio picked up the children aged 9, 10 and 12, from Metro Manila and brought them to aguna. –
