Carlo Sawit: Young man in a hurry

CARLO SAWIT:

-

One might say that Carlo Sawit is a young man in a hurry because he’s into so many things. Aside from being an aspiring actor and commercial model, his resumé also lists being a public servant (he was a councilor in his home province of Tarlac), a former research and financial analyst and a fitness enthusiast.

Currently, though, it is showbiz that takes up most of his time. Carlo is a Backroom artist. A BS Marketing Management graduate from La Salle, Carlo is now based in Quezon City to pursue his career in the entertainment industry. He endorses Yellow Cab Pizza and Jack and Jill Chiz Crispers, and had a supporting role in the pilot episode of Moon of Desire.

Landing the part in Moon of Desire was an amazing experience, he says. “It was also quite a challenge since my character was a complete opposite of my real personality. Despite that, I really enjoyed it since I got to push myself as an actor and polish my craft.”

Carlo has also been busy with the Not Your Ordinary Variety Shows, where he gets to perform and show off his skills staging shows in different PAGCOR branches. “I feel very blessed and I consider them my second family. I am very thankful for the opportunity and support Backroom has given me.”

The 5’11”, 160-lb. looker seems cut out for character roles, but can also play lead parts. He takes acting seriously, and idolizes Hollywood actors Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and recent Oscar Best Actor awardee Matthew McConaughey who was critically-acclaimed for his role as a cowboy living with AIDS in the film Dallas Buyers Club. “They are big inspirations to me. They always give their all to portray the roles that they are given, and that is what I want to do here locally.”

Of course, he knows that if it happens, it’s not just going to be the product of wishing and dreaming. Rather, it will come as the result of a lot of hard work. Right now, Carlo is working on showcasing his acting and hosting skills more. Acting, in particular, is something he really enjoys and Carlo is looking forward to doing more of it. He thinks his versatility, combined with his own life experiences, will give him an edge over other new talents, all seeking to make names for themselves in the business.

Somewhere out there, he says, there is room for him. “I really enjoy my craft and I commit to my willingness to learn,” he says. “My dream is to be a successful actor, host and showbiz personality in order for me to inspire people to push and believe in themselves and never give up on their dreams. I have a long way to go, being new in the industry, but I believe that given the opportunity to showcase my talents, I can achieve my goals.”
