Purisima summons PNP execs on missing rifles

Philippine National Police chief Director eneral Alan Purisima yesterday reminded PNP officials not to disclose to media half-ba ed informatio­n on the missing 1, A - and M-16 rifles so as not to preempt the ongoing investigat­ion.

Purisima called into his office several police officials who attended a hearing at the ouse of Representa­tives in connection with the missing firearms.

Summoned were Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection roup (CID ) chief Director en amin Magalong, Civil Security roup director Chief Superinten­dent Melito Mabili and Firearms and Explosives Office acting chief Senior Superinten­dent Robert Po.

Purisima called the attention of the police officials after informatio­n on the missing A - was prematurel­y disclosed to lawma ers and the media last wee .

The CID earlier said at least 1 police officials may be held liable for the missing high powered firearms that ended up in the hands of the New People’s Army rebels.

Chief Superinten­dent Reuben Theodore Sindac, head of the PNP Public Informatio­n Office, said the police officers were reminded to reveal informatio­n on the missing guns only with concrete evidence.

There was no dressing down,” he said.

During the hearing at the ouse of Representa­tives last wee , some lawma ers scolded Magalong and other police officials for giving conflictin­g informatio­n on the missing firearms.
