US workers with Ebola released from hospital
WAS TO A — Two American missionaries who contracted the dangerous Ebola virus while working in iberia are doing better and have been released from an Atlanta hospital, doctors said on Thursday.
Doctor ent Brantly, 33, and ancy Writebol, 60, both hristian aid workers, were infected with Ebola in Monrovia last month as the largest outbreak in history swept West Africa.
“ od saved my life, a direct answer to thousands and thousands of prayers,” Brantly said, looking thin but otherwise healthy as he smiled and held hands with his wife. “ am thrilled to be alive, to be well and to be reunited with my family.”
Writebol was released on Tuesday, and did not appear at a press conference with Brantly. er release was not announced earlier this week because she had re uested privacy and did not want details of her medical condition to be made public, doctors said.
Meanwhile, rish authorities were testing a “suspected case of Ebola virus” after a person who traveled to an affected area in Africa was found dead, the country s health service said.
“Until a diagnosis is confirmed, and as a precautionary measure, the individual s remains will stay in the mortuary pending the laboratory results,” the ealth Service Executive said on Thursday.
The suspected case is in Donegal in northwest reland. Test results are expected late on riday local time.
The outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa is the largest ever and has killed 1,350 people and sickened more than 2,400 in iberia, uinea, Sierra eone and igeria since March.
