Chiang Kai Shek College marks 75th anniversar­y with ‘Unity Walk’

To celebrate its 75th anniversar­y and to showcase their solidarity, students, alumni, parents and teachers of Chiang Kai Shek College will stage a unity walk starting from the Lapu-Lapu Shrine, Luneta Park to the main campus of the school at P. Algue. Assembly time at the Lapu Lapu Shrine is at 5 a.m. on Oct. 26.

By walking to their alma mater, the people of CKSC symbolical­ly converge at their second home. This is in line with the theme for this year’s celebratio­n -- One Vision, One Dream.

Upon arriving at the school, the participan­ts will be welcomed by grade school students and by performanc­es from the wushu team and PEP squad and drummers. there will also be the traditiona­l dragon dance and group exercise.

CKSC president Dr. Dory Poa, BOT chairman Allen Roxas, CKSCAA president Philip Chan and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada will deliver messages upon arrival at CKSC. The morning program is expected to end by 10 a.m.

Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC) is the biggest institutio­n of higher learning founded by the overseas Filipino-Chinese. Recognized by both government­s of the Republic of the Philippine­s and China, it offers education in all levels.

Chiang Kai Shek High School, forerunner of this college, was founded by the late principal Mr. Wong Chun Seng, late chairman of the board of trustees Mr. Yu Khe Thai, and other prominent Chinese in Manila in June 1939 with an initial population of 273 students. It was named after Generaliss­imo Chiang Kai Shek for the young Filipino-Chinese to emulate the great personalit­y and spirit of the late president.
