Kids display talents at Children’s Month celebration
LANAO DEL NORTE – Eight hundred fifty eight preschoolers from different municipalities joined the recent 5th Provincial Children’s Congress held at the Mindanao Civic Center ( MCC) sports complex in Barangay Sagadan, Tubod.
The event is the culmination activity for the Children’s month celebration from Oct. 1 to 31, organized by the Lanao del Norte through its Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
“We are giving the kids a venue to show their talents as well as an opportunity to make new friends from different parts of the province,” said PSWDO head Annabelle Mendez.
The participants were children from various daycare centers throughout Lanao del Norte.
The culmination activity was highlighted by different competitions for group and individual contestants. Among the contests were poem rendition, draw and tell, vocal solo, chorale singin, and modern dance.
This year’s theme, “Bata kasali ka, ikaw ay mahalaga” aims to encourage children and teens to take an active role in creating positive change within their local community and be a part of nation building.
Contest winners were given cash prizes and special tokens by the provincial government.
“The role of our young generation should never be discounted. They are a vital part of our society and we need their enthusiasm and energy to move the country forward,” said Governor Khalid Dimaporo.
