Dula, Soguilon set swim marks in Capiztahan
Female Swimmer of the Year Kyla Soguilon and Marc Bryan Dula broke records in their respective age groups yesterday in the 74th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) Leg Series dubbed 2015 Capiztahan Swim Meet and Open Water Competition at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City.
Soguilon submitted 31.25 seconds in the girls’ 10 years 50-meter freestyle, erasing the five-year-old mark of 31.37 of Paula Cayanan in 2010. Soguilon bagged seven golds in the 2015 Phuket Swimming Championship in Thanyapura and nine golds in the 2015 Indian Ocean All Stars Challenge in Perth. She was also named Most Outstanding Swimmer in both tournaments.
“We’re happy seeing these kids break records in their events. It only proves that our grassroots development program works. We will continue this program not only here in Capiz but in different provinces as well,” said PSL president Susan Papa.
Dula also stole some spotlight as he registered 37.10 seconds in the boys’ 8 years 50m butterfly to smash the 37.18 old mark of Iñaki Lorbes on November 27, 2010.
Dula also broke the 50m individual medley mark with a time of 35.35, better than the 35.90-second mark of Charles Ticbaen in 2012.
”Soguilon has been consistent be it in international, national and regional meet, she is the real spectacular swimmer while Dula was handled by his father coach Marlon very well and breaks record that are more than four years old,” added Papa.
Other gold medal winners were Wilse Jude Azarcon (9), Alic Deniel de la Cruz (15), Jason Mirabueno (16), Joan Perlas (5), Yrene Mae Sustiguer (7), Joemarie Borres (6), Jennuel Booh de Leon (9), Lyssa Marie Enero (11), Riandrea Chico (13), Johann Christian Abogadie (11), Mark Daniel Majarucon (13), Atilla Pia Loy (12), Lucio Cuyong II (11), Dickson Tolinero (14), Julyiana Calibjo (8), Danica Alba (11), Rencel Uytoco (14), John Lloyd Yatar (11), James Michael Young (14), Sidley Rose Malumay (11), Carl Wilfred Adones (12) and Jopearlson Ituriaga (13).
