The local unit of American carmaker Ford Motor Co. is planning to launch more vehicle models than earlier announced for this year to support higher sales.

“We’re launching more than the Mustang, Expedition and Everest, more than three (vehicle models) this year,” Ford Philippines managing director Kay Hart said in an interview during the Manila International Auto Show 2015.

The new Expedition Platinum, which has an updated look both inside and out and offers better fuel economy, will be officially on sale by July at a retail price of P3.488 million.

“The Expedition Platinum is a capable full- size utility vehicle for our discerning customers who want the very best in an SUV (sports utility vehicle). It is the ultimate expression of class and refinement,” Minnie Valencia-Bustamante, vice president for marketing and sales at Ford Philippines said.

The seven- seat Everest, meanwhile will be officially launched next month and available on sale in the third quarter.

Hart said additional details on the new vehicles to be rolled out will be made next month.

The new vehicle models are expected to further boost the company’s sales.

“We expect to continue with the momentum and we think our new models will do great in the segments and provide strong sales,” Hart said.

The company registered its highest first quarter sales in history this year at 5,273 units, up 43 percent from 3,692 units in the same period a year ago.

Last year, Ford Philippines’ sales hit an all- time high of 20,341 units amid strong demand across its vehicle lineup.

Other vehicle models being sold by Ford Philippines are the Fiesta, Focus, EcoSport, Escape, Explorer, Ranger and E-150.

As the company wants to continue to grow its sales, it is likewise expanding its dealerships to a total of 40 by yearend from 36 at present.

To start the expansion, a new dealership is set to open in Malolos, Bulacan next month.

Hart said dealerships will also be set up in Ormoc in Leyte, Sta. Rosa in Laguna and in Palawan.
