Hartmann scores 5 goals in Global’s win

Mark Hartmann fired five goals as Global FC clobbered Nomads FC, 10-0, to rack up its third straight win in Group D of the United Football League (UFL) Cup Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Hartmann (45+2’, 60’, 71’, 72’, 90+2’) had a field day finding the back of the net and got offensive support from Norio Suzuki who had a brace (62’ and 81’), and Izzo Elhabib (26’), his brother Matthew Hartmann (77’) and Daisuke Sato (90’), who each scored one goal in the onesided affair.

Global (nine points) maintained its hold of the Group D lead while Nomads, which played with 10 men in the final 10 minutes after Darren Hartmann got his second yellow card of the night, absorbed its second straight loss.

Manila Jeepney FC, with N’gnan Koffi Kouassi dishing out a hat-trick (29’, 53’, 87’), beat Forza FC, 5-2, to climb to third spot with three points (1-0-1). Forza, which fell to its second loss in three games, dropped to fourth with three points (-5 goal difference).

Earlier, Stallion FC thrashed UST FC, 5-0, to zoom to the top spot in Group C with seven points on two wins and one draw.

Ruben Doctora (22’), Ameachi Mbata (37’), Simone Rota (73’ PK), Hector Borromeo (82’) and Elmar Boblo (90+1’) struck for Stallion FC.

In the other match, Loyola Meralco Sparks FC shut out Mendiola FC, 7-0, to improve to 5 points on one win and one draw.

Youngsters Graham Caygill (17’, 68’) and Curt Dizon (74’, 82’) led the offensive for the Sparks, who also got goals from James Younghusba­nd (49’), Anthony Putrus-Schnell (78’) and Anton del Rosario (90+1).

UST suffered its second straight loss while Mendiola lost for the third consecutiv­e time.
