UP Sigma Alpha Sorority fun run for women education
On May 30, Saturday, at 5 a.m., the “Fun Run and Fun Walk for Women’s Education“will be held at the Luneta, Roxas Blvd. in Manila.
This is a joint undertaking of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture and the UP Sigma Alpha Sorority Alumnae Association Inc., a non-profit volunteer organization whose main objective is to facilitate women’s empowerment through education.
The event’s main objective is to encourage families to walk or run together to foster family fitness and togetherness and to ensure the continued program for women’s education of the UP Sigma Alpha Sorority Alumnae Association, Inc. aimed at helping deserving but underprivileged women obtain good quality education through grants of scholarships in state colleges and universities and trainings on livelihood for those who do not qualify for formal education.
The grant of scholarship for a four-year degree course started last year and there are four women beneficiaries in Marikina, Rizal and Samar.
The event is supported by Coca- Cola, Smart Communications, Land Bank of the Philippines, Agricultural Guarantee Fund of the Philippines (AGFP), Atty. Rafael A. Morales, Philippine Sports Commission, Maynilad Water, Asia United Bank, Department of Agriculture and other government agencies including the Civil Service Commission.
Assembly time is 5 a.m. in front of the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta, Manila.
Start of run is at 5: 30 a. m. going around the Quirino Grandstand to Roxas Blvd. The competition and registration fee include: 3K – P400; 5K – P500; and P10K – P600. The activity is open to all physically fit persons.
Registration period is from April 22 to May 22. Registration sites are at the 28th floor, One San Miguel Ave., San Miguel corner Shaw Blvd., Ortigas Center, Pasig City and at McDonalds, Fisher Mall, Quezon City.
