Oppo launches three new entry and midrange smartphones
L ast week, Oppo Mobile introduced three new entry- level and mid- range smartphones in the country. These add to close to a dozen smartphones the Chinese brand has introduced in the Philippines since officially coming in last year.
When Oppo first came into the country, they introduced their flagship handsets – the Oppo N1 and the Find 7a. It was a move to establish brand reputation and unique positioning in the smartphone market. The company then moved on to introduce mid-range and entry level categories.
This batch of new handsets are considered to be in the range of entry to mid-level units, all of which off er dual-SIM functionalities.
First in the batch is a sub-P5,000 handset with a 4-inch display running a simple dualcore chip and 1GB RAM. The Oppo Joy Plus comes at a suggested retail price of only P4,990.

The Oppo Neo 5 is another budget midrange smartphone with a decent hardware confi guration with dual- SIM confi guration but only 3G connectivity.

The Oppo Neo 5 has a suggested retail price of P7,990.
The most interesting handset of the batch is the OPPO R1x with its octa-core Qualcomm processor. The Snapdragon 615 chip runs on a quad- core 1.7GHz ARM Cortex A53 and another 1.0GHz quad-core A53.
The R1x is also among the thinnest at only 6.8mm with a glass-on-glass design as it comes with a sapphire crystal back panel.

The Oppo R1x will retail for P15,990 in stores nationwide.
Oppo smartphones come with a customized mobile operating system called Color OS 2.0 which is based on Android 4.4. Kitkat. Color OS 2.0 comes with additional features and functionality on top of what Android Kitkat offers. This also allows Oppo to differentiate itself from other Android handset vendors in the market.
The Oppo Joy Plus, Neo 5 and R1x are all available in the market this week.
