The Energizer Night Race Manila 2015 lights up the streets of Filinvest City in Alabang on June 27 with the aim of raising P1 million for medical patients of Bantay Bata 163.

Over 3,000 runners are expected in the open run event, which challenges the participants to keep going and run as many three-kilometer loops as they can within two hours. For every 3K loop that the runners will complete, P100 will be donated to Bantay Bata 163’s operation and medical treatment funds.

The event was launched yesterday by officials of Energizer, led by senior brand manager Claire Guevarra, business director Vincent Lizo, and brand activations manager MJ Tiquia, and ABSCBN headed by customer marketing manager Abigail Katigbak and Bantay Bata 163 managing director Clarissa Ocampo. They were joined by race director Melvyn Bolus and organizer Marj Dayrit of Pep Squad Events.

“Everybody is a winner here in terms of helping the children. There will be no medals but we’ll be recognizing the participants as winners,” said Lizo. “How far can you go to light up someone’s life? That’s our intention. The challenge is to make more than P1 million in donation to Bantay Bata.”

Guevarra said the event is in line with Energizer’s ongoing commitment to share “positivenergy” with the children and furthering their thrust of giving back to the community.

“It is important to put self-improvement as your daily goal in life, but stretching your arms to further help others is one of the best indicators that we have lived fully. With our partnership with Bantay Bata 163, we were able to realize this, and we will continue to engage ourselves in a partnership that nurtures both the brand and the beneficiaries it embraces,” Guevarra said.

Katigbak said ABS-CBN espouses the same advocacy and looks forward to the event, which allows participants to “participate in the cause every step of the way.” Ocampo, for her part, said the race will be a “shot in the arm” for the foundation.

Race kit is pegged at P700, inclusive of race singlet, race bib, Energizer headlight, Energizer cap and Schick Xtreme 3 Razor plus access to preand post-race activities.

The runners, according to Tiquia, will be monitored through radio frequency identification (RFID), which tracks every 3K loop a runner makes. A battery meter will light up every time a runner finishes a 3K run. It will compile all 3K runs until it reaches the target.

Registration can be made at official registration sites Reebok Filinvest, Trinoma and Megamall, RUNNR BGC and Royal Sporting House Glorietta. Online registration and details of the event are through Energizer’s official website
