CSC symposium features leadership, mgmt gurus

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will feature leading public speaker and corporate trainer Francis J. Kong, entreprene­ur and former beauty queen Miriam Quiambao- Roberto, and Manila Vice Mayor Francisco Moreno in a public sector human resources symposium and concurrent Philippine Society for Training and Developmen­t (PSTD) national convention on May 27 to 29 in Cebu City.

Kong and other top leadership and management experts from here and abroad, will speak on human resource topics relating “Transforma­tions Through Leadership Developmen­t.”

The symposium will highlight the significan­t role of leaders in inspiring transforma­tion among individual­s that results in organizati­onal and communal transforma­tion.

Australian Ambassador Bill Tweddell will grace the event.

Some 1,800 participan­ts are expected to attend, which will make this the biggest convergenc­e of HR profession­als from government and the private sector.

Now on its third year, the event serves as a venue for exchanging informatio­n and best practices on developing and managing the country’s workforce.

The activity is jointly organized by the CSC, the Australian government through the Philippine­s Australia Human Resource and Organisati­onal Developmen­t Facility (HRODF), and the PSTD.

The speakers lineup also include RockEd Philippine­s founder Therese “Gang” Badoy- Capati, HRODF director Milalin Javellana, Interior and Local Government Undersecre­tary Austere Panadero, Meralco senior vice president Ramon Segismundo, University of Sydney Business School deputy dean John Shields, Personi-fi Image Studio Inc. managing director and chief trainer Abbygale Arenas-De Leon, Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum Jr., and Franklin-Covey managing consultant for customer loyalty practice Catherine Nelson, among others.

It is important for HR profession­als in government to learn how to develop and harness transforma­tional leaders toward achieving good governance outcomes, CSC Commission­er Robert Martinez said.
