Inspiring, world-class Filipinas
Guests felt inspired and motivated during the launch of the Marie Jamora- directed documentary called Cream Silk Portraits: A Celebration of # WorldClassFilipinas. The documentary, which premiered in The Theatre at Solaire Resort and Casino, weaved the inspiring stories of four women: Anne Curtis, Toni Gonzaga, Heart Evangelista and Lea Salonga. The presentation took the audience through an intimate jour ney of the women’s struggles and triumphs. The stor y revolved around a common plot, reminding the Filipina that the journey to becoming world- class was never easy. Unilever Philippines chair and CEO Rohit Jawa and VP for Personal Care Gina Lorenzana gave their opening remarks before the premiere.
Lisa Macuja- Elizalde recounted her early beginnings as an aspiring ballerina. From leaving the country at the age of 18 to mastering the ar t of ballet in one of the most stringent ballet schools, the Academy of Russian Ballet in Saint Petersburg. Lisa said that pursuing one’s dreams does not come on a silver platter.
Many more inspiring Filipinas were also honored during the event including bag designer Rocio Olbes , Miss Univers e 1973 a nd peace advocate Ma rg i e Mo ra n - Floi rendo, humanit a r ian Alex Eduque, Chr ist ine JacobSandejas, artist Olivia d’Aboville, as well as the Binibining Pilipinas beauty queens Bianca Manalo, Shamcey Supsup, MJ Lastimosa and Bea Rose Santiago. The night ended sweetly with a special performance by none other than Broadway legend Lea Salonga.
