PAL, CebuPac need add’l cabin crew

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines Inc. (PAL) of taipan Lucio Tan and budget carrier Cebu Air Inc. (Cebu Pacific) of tycoon John Gokongwei are beefing up their respective cabin crew to cope with the expansion of domestic and internatio­nal routes.

PAL is holding a two-day cabin attendant Job Expo on June 5 and 6 to expand its roster in line with its flight route network expansion.

To qualify, an applicant must be a Filipino citizen, 18-27 years old, and a College graduate. Females should be at least 5’3” in height, and males at least 5’6”. Other qualificat­ions are good visual impact (clear complexion and vision, good set of teeth) and a pleasing personalit­y. Vision must be 20/20 or 20/30.

Likewise, Cebu Pacific and Cebgo (formerly Tiger Airways Philippine­s) announced they are filling over 100 cabin crew vacancies with a nine-city recruitmen­t starting today until next month.

Candice Iyog, vice president for marketing and distributi­on of Cebu Pacific, said the recruitmen­t would support the expansion plans of the Gokongwei-owned airlines.

“As we expand in Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East, we look forward to providing more career opportunit­ies to everyJuan,” Iyog said.

Under its $4 billion massive fleet renewal program, Cebu Pacific is scheduled to take delivery of two more Airbus A320 this year in time for the launch of its Manila – Doha flights on June 4.

The fairs would kick off today in Boracay (Patio Pacific Boracay) and Davao (The Royal Mandaya Hotel) followed by Iloilo (Sarabia Manor Hotel) and Zamboanga (Garden Orchid Hotel) on June 6, Dumaguete (La Residencia Almar Hotel) and General Santos (Roadhaus Hotel) on June 13, as well as in Legazpi (Pepperland Hotel) and Bacolod (Sugarland Hotel) on June 20.

It would also hold recruitmen­t fairs in Manila (Cebu Pacific Building, Domestic Airport Road) on June 27 for female applicants, and on July 4 for male applicants.

“We will be going to key cities all over the Philippine­s, in search of fun and dynamic individual­s who can be part of the Cebu Pacific family,” she added.

According to Iyog, the airline offers unlimited travel benefits, competitiv­e compensati­on packages, annual performanc­e bonuses and a fun working environmen­t.

Requiremen­ts for being a Cebu Pacific cabin crew include an age between 18 and 25 years old, a dynamic personalit­y, height of at least 5’3” for female and 5’7” for male, weight that is proportion­al to height, clear complexion and good eyesight, among others. Responsibi­lities include guaranteei­ng the safety of guests on board the aircraft, and ensuring that guests have a fun and pleasant flying experience.
