UP pilots online filing of entrance test applications
The University of the Philippines will pilot this year a system that will allow applicants to the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) to submit their applications online.
“For the first time in UP’s history, the eligibility, documentary and procedural requirements of the University of the Philippines College Admission Test are now available via the UPCAT Online Application website (https://upcatonline.
up.edu.ph/),” UP vice president for public affairs Prospero de Vera said.
“The online application is part of the efforts of the national university to make the UPCAT application more accessible and convenient for the today’s younger generation – who are digital natives more adept at using the Internet and social media in pursuit of their passions and interests, including their educational and social growth,” he added.
De Vera said the online application website is part of UP president Alfredo Pascual’s commitment to making UP education more accessible to a greater number of interested students.
Eligible to take the UPCAT this year include those who graduated from high school in 2015 or earlier and have not taken the UPCAT, as well as those who will graduate from schools that are early implementers of the senior high school program.
“Maintained by the Office of Admissions, the UPCAT Online Application website features a brief background of the university, admissions options, eligibility and documentary requirements, modes of payment and procedures in applying for the UPCAT,” said the university.
“Aside from application concerns, the website also offers tips in taking the examination itself and information on scholarships. Requirements and procedures for foreign applicants for admissions in the university are also available,” it added.
Once a test permit is issued, a link to an UPCAT Online Reviewer will also be provided. UP said it will be made available to examinees in the first week of August.
The UPCAT is set on Aug. 30.
