Belmont showcases agri equipment, technologies

-

One of the country’s leaders in agricultural equipment and technologies, Belmont Agricorp will be showcasing its latest innovations at the country’s largest trade fair scheduled in October.

Dubbed Agrilink, Foodlink, and Aqualink, the trade expo will run from Oct 15 to 17 at the World Trade Center in Manila.

The company’s products are incubators, feeders and waterers, as well as brooders and ventilation equipment. Belmont also carries bagged and bulk grain storage, ship and barge unloaders, commercial dryers and feed-milling technologies.

Tony Magno, Belmont vice president for marketing, said: “For over 38 years, our technologies have been utilized by big and small farmers. We also represent leading companies and equipment lines from around the world. We have been helping our stakeholder partners in the country address the overall performance of their farms by improving their farms’ production, bio- security and sustainability. As a result, they have consistently produced high-quality products, achieved better output, sustained more stable revenue, become more competitive in the market and improve the value adding and supply chain of their agricultural products.”

For instance, Belmont’s tunnel ventilation systems for poultry houses, which utilize fiberglass cone fans, improve air quality and remove excess heat, humidity, dusts and harmful odors and gases such as carbon dioxide and ammonia.

By controlling the climate of the poultry farms, the birds are given more free oxygen needed for their growth, which results in better efficiency. This effectively provides higher bird density by up to 35 percent, minimizes mortality and ensures better return-on-investment.

A testament to the success of this technology is Belmont’s longstanding partnership with San Miguel Foods Inc., which continues to be one of the market leaders in poultry products.

For piggeries, Belmont has put up five-fan ventilation and automatic feeding systems.

This set-up, currently employed by Monterey and agribusiness associations in Southern Luzon, promotes the growth of the pigs and significantly reduces the environmental impact of their wastes and by-products.

Apart from this, Belmont has single stage incubation hatcheries for poultry farms. Unlike the multi-stage incubation where eggs of different ages are loaded into the hatchery, the single stage incubation is an all-out system that integrators will find easier to compare and monitor. Because the eggs are of the same age, they relatively have the same hatching period, heat treatment and environment, which keep the chicks from getting dehydrated and thus allowing them to grow stronger.

“Belmont is supporting Agrilink’s theme this year by showcasing efficient, costeffective and environmentally sustainable farm mechanization technologies that will improve animal productivity, reduce losses and provide economies of scale for our far- mers. In turn, we can strengthen the marketing process, enable the supply and value chain to run more efficiently and ultimately enhance our competitiveness in the ASEAN region and beyond,” Magno said.

The three-day event will feature seminars, live animal and plant display and other special activities that will also underscore the most upto-date and ground-breaking inputs, which can enhance the profitability, sustainability and productivity of the interdependent industries of agriculture, aquaculture and food.
