Full service myPAL app launched

-

With Filipinos traveling more than ever before, now there is no better way to book your flights than through the recently launched myPAL app of Philippine Airlines.

“The myPAL app provides users with an end-to-end service. Customers can browse flights, book them, select seats, pay immediately and manage their flights. This kind of convenience equates to a great customer experience,” said Ria Carrion-Domingo, vice president for Marketing of Philippine Airlines.

The payment gateway for the myPAL app is fueled by PayMaya, the financial technology platform which is owned by the joint venture of Rocket Internet and PLDT. The myPAL app was developed by Voyager Innovations, the digital arm of PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).

In comparison to other payment gateways, PayMaya is much more inclusive of the entire spectrum of Fili- pino consumers.

“As smartphone penetration increases in the Philippines, the amount of time that Filipinos collectively spend on mobile is also rapidly increasing. By granting Filipinos the power to book and pay for their flights entirely through the myPAL app, we are giving them the best gift that a technology provider can give – meeting the passengers where they are,” said Paolo Azzola, chief operating officer of PayMaya Philippines.

As an example, the my PAL app has several features that take it beyond a standard booking app and into a true full-service portal. Users can review their bookings and keep up with the latest updates pertaining to their trip. Coolest of all, myPAL app users can instantly check in – no more need to spend time lining up.

Given the depth of these features, myPAL would be particularly suited for Filipinos who travel often. For them, the myPAL app represents a mobile solution for their frequent traveler’s lifestyle which will empower the freedom of travel, and the PayMaya integration will enable freedom of mind.

The partnership between PAL and PayMaya falls in line with the broader mission of Voyager Innovations to accelerate the digital transformation of Filipino consumers. Voyager incubates and accelerates a suite of digital products and platforms, including communications app Talk2 and online discovery platform Takatack , both sponsors of the myPAL app launch.

Voyager seeks to innovate outside of the mainstream telco business, and in so doing take Filipino consumers from talk, text and browsing toward apps, content and the Internet of things.

“Our partnership with Philippine Airlines for myPAL is one more way that we are enriching the lives of Filipino consumers online. We want all Filipinos to have access to the best products and platforms, so their digital lives are more efficient, more convenient and, ultimately, more fulfilling,” Azzola said.
