Asian cloud telephony giant enters Phl

- By LOUISE MAUREEN SIMEON

Asia’s largest cloud telephony company is expanding its products and services to the Philippines to help startups and small and medium businesses in the country.

Singapore-based Knowlarity has entered the Philippine market as the first cloud telephony player in the country, its chief executive officer Ambarish Gupta said.

“We are comfortable with this since we have been the pioneers of cloud telephony in India and we are the largest provider of PSTN (public switched telephone network) cloud telephony in the world,” Gupta said in an email interview.

Cloud telephony refers to voice messages and short message services ( SMS) managed in the cloud that are cost-effective than the regular telecommunication services since it does not require implementation of physical infrastructure.

Gupta said that Knowlarity has started partnering with other organizations and companies and the competition is not a problem considering the company is the first of its kind in the Philippines.

With Knowlarity’s primary goal of enabling small businesses to use cloud telephony solutions, companies need not worry on losing communication between them and their customers, as well as to further engage with them.

“We want to do that for the small businesses all over the world, all over the emerging markets, and the Philippines is one of those countries where small businesses can really use our products and have massive benefits of being able to project a big company image. So this is a massively valuable thing for small business and we want to continue to offer these kind of services to businesses in the Philippines,” he said.

Knowlarity will first offer the Super Receptionist product, one of its flagship products, which is a virtual receptionist service on cloud that allows small businesses and enterprises to manage incoming and outgoing calls. Super Receptionist ensures any call will not be missed in the span of doing business.

“There is a huge opportunity for our product in the Filipino market and we are going to focus on only one product first and take it to the next level, before we look for offering other products and services in the Philippines,” Gupta said.
