There’s been an increasing number of people looking to lead active and healthy lifestyles, and it’s very encouraging.

Growing up, this wasn’t actually the trend. There were people who were heavily into sports, but the rest were oblivious to its benefits.

If you want to try to get into sports, probably the best would be to start running. The sport has been with us for ages, and it doesn’t take too much to invest in a pair of sneakers and some running gear.

All this has been made easier with more areas being set up for people to run.

But what runners should also consider is a good timepiece. One that is geared towards the over-all welfare of the runner. Luckily, Asics launched its line last week, and it had the running community in a frenzy.

Asics is re-defining the Running Watch, which puts a premium on convenience and functionality, but they also made sure it was fashionable and took into consideration its various price points.

Different runners are after different things, but you cannot overlook the fact that runners need to be able to measure their performance, monitor their heart rate, the distance they are covering, and their respective running time.

Asics has come out with various models that can do all this, not to mention its other sports watches with its GPS models, which will assist you in your route, your pace, and your distance. While majority of today’s runners train at night, they also have LED Night watches, which have a continuous flashing LED that helps runners monitor their time and, with a press of a button, also keeps them visible in dark areas.

During the launch, they also introduced their brand ambassadors, the cream of the crop of the country, who excelled in the recent SEA Games — Mary Joy Tabal, silver medalist for women’s marathon; Kath Kay Santos, 4th placer in the long jump; and Jesson Cid, silver medalist in decathlon. Also attending the event was Condura Run organizer Patrick Concepcion, a running aficionado who brought Asics time wear onboard during their record-breaking event.
