Alay Lakad walk celebrates 43rd year
Al a y Lakad Foundation walk for a cause for the out- of- school youth organizations of the country, marks its 43rd year anniversary on Sept. 6this year.
Conceptualized in 1972 by then Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development ( DSWD) Estefania Aldaba Lim, it was intended to raise funds for the benefit of thousands of marginalized and out-of-school youth to be able to send them to school and provide them training skills and opportunities to improve their way of life and become self-sufficient.
Alay Lakad became a Foundation in 1975. It has 32 government and non-government member- agencies. Chapters have also been organized in different parts of the country.
This year, Alay Lakad is celebrating its 43rd year anniversary with the theme “Alay Lakad Para Sa Magandang Kinabukasan” with Kiwanis International Philippines Luzon District on the lead. Kiwanis District Governor Melvin Mendoza designated Past Lt. Governor Richard Agbayani as chairman of the National Coordinating Committee of 2015.
Vice chairman and president Angel Ngu of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCH) also designated Reynolds Sy as overall coordinator for Alay Lakad 2015.
Alay Lakad president Frank Evaristo is inviting everyone to join the walk on Sept. 6, at the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta to raise funds for the benefit of the out-of-school youth nationwide, to finance their scholarship, educational assistance and livelihood training for them to become productive and self-reliant.
President Aquino is the honorary chairman of the Alay Lakad Foundation, Inc.
