ACGTD program reawakens pride as a Filipino
The Philippine embassy in Australia and New Zealand organized the 1st Ambassador/ Consul Generals/Tourism Directors Tour to the Philippines (ACGTD), under Visit Philippines Program by the Tourism Promotions Board.
The first group with 30 Filipino-Australian participants headed by Ambassadors Belen Anota, Australia and Virginia Benavidez, New Zealand paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario who launched the ACGTD in 2005 when he was Philippine Ambassador to the United States.
The ACGTD Tour to the Philippines has gained much popularity and excitement in the Fil- Am community and expanded to other countries like Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
It geared towards promoting the Philippines to Filipino communities in these countries. The 1st Fil- Australian group were so impressed with the warm and extreme hospi- tality they are experiencing since their arrival last week. Their tour of Taal which showcases heritage and Philippine culture reawakened their sense of pride as a Filipino. Having a taste of authentic Filipino food and the famous Taal cuisine and delicacies makes them feel that It’s More Fun in the Philippines.
They plan to come with much a bigger group next year targeting the Australian nationals and young generation of Filipinos.
This 1st Australia/ New Zealand Visit Philippines was through the joint effort of the Philippine embassies and PDOT Sydney under Consuelo Jones and Director Susan del Mundo of the Tourism Promotions Board wo came out with the program that showcases the culture, heritage and attraction of the destinations.
A welcome dinner at the New Marriott Hotel which TPB hosted is one of the highlights in the program.
