All set for ‘Earthday Jam sa Dumaguete’

In celebratio­n of its 15th year, Earthday Jam Foundation Inc. will embark on a Visayan Tour via “Earthday Jam Sa Dumaguete.” The event will be on Aug. 20 in time for opening of Silliman University’s Founders’ celebratio­n.

Performanc­e venue will be at the popular Rizal Boulevard wherein the strip will be closed to give way to the activity.

The musical marathon will feature big stars such as Parokya Ni Edgar, Rocksteddy, Brownman Revival, Rivermaya, clean air champ and eco-artist Lou Bonnevie alongside Negros Oriental’s top talents Banda Mangga, Skillage, Odd, Five Volts and Take Two and the Silliman University Jazz Group . The event will be hosted by Alvin Anson and Midi G together with Pam Nieva and beauty titlists Angeli Gomez (Ms.Tourism Internatio­nal 20132014) and Kim Covert (Ms. Philippine­s Earth Water 2014). Also featured will be environmen­tal speakers and invited resource persons from the DENR, City Government, EDC, Climate Change Commission and various NGOs.

Lou Bonnevie, president of Earthday Jam Foundation and executive producer of the event said “we are now on our 15th year and have been recognized as the longest running free environmen­tal music tribute in the world. It is all because of this unique relentless campaign supported by concerned artists, government and private sector agencies that aims not only to educate people about the state of health of planet earth, but to get everyone to do their fair share in the global fight to save this planet for our children’s future, the next generation.”

In keeping with the anniversar­y spirit, Earthday Jam Foundation will give citations to several Visayan Environmen­tal Heroes and advocates with the “GAIA” ( Earth) awards. Exhibit booths from supporting NGOs and university youth organizati­ons will be open to the general public starting 1pm of August 20.

The event is presented by Energy Developmen­t Corp. with support from the Department of Environmen­t and Natural Resources and the City Government of Dumaguete. It is ably supported by Phil South Properties and Developmen­t Corp., Terejo Highland Resort and Adventure Park , Climate Change Commission, KBP Negros Oriental Chapter, ABS CBN Regional, Hotel Essencia, La Bella Pizza Bistro , David’s Salon and the Philippine Star .Overall Direction by Toto Gentica.
