SMC offers free bus rides on its 125th year

-

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) is offering free bus rides to commuters along EDSA starting today (Sept. 21) as part of the various community service programs it will launch in celebration of its 125th anniversary and to communicate the conglomerate’s brand vision to “make the world a better place.”

“This is an initiative that we believe resonates with our new slogan ‘Your world made better’. We want to make a positive impact on the communities that we serve – one good deed at a time, one person at a time,” SMC president and COO Ramon Ang said.

SMC has tapped Metrolink Bus Corp. to provide eight buses which will be marked with SMC’s tagline “Your world made better” and the hashtag #SMCbetterworld that will ply the Malanday-NAIA route starting 5: 30 a. m. onwards and 4:30 p.m. onwards for the NAIA-Malanday route.

The SMC markers will differentiate it from the rest of the commercial buses tranversing the EDSA route.

“City life can be very stressful, especially when you are stuck in traffic and have to be somewhere else at a specific time of the day. In which case, we thought of making it convenient for riders to commute and make them feel good inside the bus,” Ang added.

The buses will be loaded with free Wi-fi, limited breakfast and snacks from the company’s food group as well as minor corporate giveaways. Surprise volunteer guests will also take the bus at certain times of the day to entertain the passengers.

SMC will also deploy employee volunteers to assist commuters.

Earlier, the company relaunched its Team Malasakit, SMC’s employee volunteerism program, to align with the company’s vision of making the world better and create a collaborative environment for employees to participate in and make a difference.
