- – Danessa Rivera

National Power Corp. ( Napocor) is bidding out more power projects to provide additional capacity in offgrid areas.

In a bid bulletin, Napocor is looking for interested bidders to construct the 2x150 kilowatt ( kw) Pandami diesel power plant in Sulu.

The state- run agency has alotted P20.45 million for the project.

In a separate bid bulletin, Napocor is also soliciting bids for another power facility, the Dinagat diesel power plant in Surigao del Norte.

The contract involves the supply, installation, test and commissioning of a 1.5-MW modular diesel generating set and associated electrical equipment.

Napocor has set a budget of P71.68 million for the project.

A pre-bid conference is set on Sept. 28 for both auctions. Opening of bids for the Pandami plant bidding is scheduled on Oct. 14 while the Dinagat plant auction is set on Oct. 12.

These projects form part of Napocor’s goal to ensure blackouts will not take place in off-grid areas.

To fast- track its plans, the agency plans to commission a total 100 units of generator sets with a combined capacity of 21.1 megawatts for the SPUG areas by yearend.

Last month, Napocor acquired P204.9 million-worth of new gensets for additional 11.28 MW that will be distributed to 52 Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) plants.

Napocor president Ma. Gladys Cruz- Sta. Rita said earlier another batch of 90 more gensets are under bidding and would benefit another 55 SPUG plants.

In the previous week, the state-run firm has solicited bids from private suppliers for the supply of 15 x 600 kilowatt ( kw), or a total of 9 MW, modular gensets.

Napocor targets to complete 116 MW of additional capacity in the next five years to meet the continuously growing demand, increase operating hours of existing plants, and ensure sufficient reserve capacity.
