The global transportation and logistics industry may be a man’s world, but one of the individuals sitting atop of it is a woman, DHL Express Philippines’ country manager Nurhayati “Yati” N. Abdullah. Since 2012, Abdullah has led the 650-employee-strong operations of the industry’s global market leader in the Philippines, looking over all aspects of the business.

Apart from delivering bigger revenues and improving service efficiency in her company, Abdullah is also committed to nurturing an equal opportunity organization, openly communicating and promoting gender equality and diversity management to her employees.

She believes that employees thrive best in an environment that values and respects their individuality, that an inclusive work environment, guided by mutual respect, openness, honesty and the spirit of trust and cooperation, is crucial in attaining the highest possible productivity, creativity and efficiency. She has proven this in her solid 20-year experience in the field of logistics.

Abdullah heads the DHL Women’s Network campaign, where women employees gather regularly, have career checks, and are prepared for key management positions in the company. Being a woman herself, she has encouraged and inspired Filipino women in DHL to aspire for the top positions, motivating them and cultivating their talents through mentoring and coaching.

So far, statistics on women in management positions in DHL Philippines have seen improvements, alongside the continuous growth of the business. Abdullah hopes to see them really charge forward to bring DHL to further greatness.
