SkyCable faces complaint for alleged signal disruption prior to ‘AlDub’ airing

- Louella Desiderio

SkyCable is facing another complaint from GMA Network Inc. before the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) for alleged signal disruption prior to the airing of Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye (AlDub) segment.

The signal disruptions are “irresponsible acts” on the part of SkyCable, GMA said in a letter to NTC dated Sept. 17.

The letter was from Elvis Ancheta, GMA senior vice president for engineering, and Lynn Delfin, vice president for legal affairs.

The signal loss and degradations are confined to SkyCable Channel 12 (GMA- 7) only, to the exclusion of other mustcarry channels, GMA said.

GMA said the signal disruptions were intended to reduce the viewership level of Eat Bulaga.

The show currently enjoys high ratings as millions of viewers are hooked to the AlDub/ Kalyeserye segment.

GMA made the complaint based on reports received through e-mail, Facebook and the network’s hotline.

It requested the NTC to investigate the complaints of subscribers on the signal disruptions and to take appropriate administrative action against SkyCable.

Last month, GMA filed the first complaint with the NTC for immediate action on signal disruptions during the airing of the AlDub/ Kalyeserye segment.

The service interruptions were isolated and would have affected other channels as well, SkyCable said.

It is willing to cooperate with the NTC on any investigation, it added.

SkyCable was unavailable for comment as of press time yesterday. –
