Filvets medical-dental mission to be held Sept 30
In line with its mission to provide health care assistance, the Filipino War Veterans Foundation Inc. (Filvets) will conduct a medical and dental mission to be held at the covered court of Barangay Castaños Cerca in the town of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite on Sept. 30, 8 a.m. to 12 noon, to be led by Lt Gen Raul Urgello AFP (Ret), executive director and COO.
Veterans, retired soldiers and their dependents are invited to avail of free medical-dental health care benefits such as consultation, bone density test, electrocardiogram, fasting blood sugar examination, blood pressure test, dental check-up and tooth extraction.
Free medicines for hypertension, cardiovascular disease, respiratory ailments, diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, allergy, infection, colds, fever, aches and pains, and food supplements like vitamins and minerals will be given to beneficiaries.
Alternative medicine procedures such as acupressure, nerve and muscle massage therapy and foot spa detoxification will be available.
Health aid devises such as wheelchairs, walking canes and reading eye glasses will be given on-need basis. Doctors, dentists, optometrist, nurses, medical technicians, staff and volunteers will be on-hand to provide the necessary medical-dental health care services.
This event will be held in partnership with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, in coordination with the Veterans Federation of the Philippines, with the support of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, AFP Medical Center, Philippine Army General Hospital, Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loan Association Inc., Association of General and Flag Officers Foundation, ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative and 3000 Club (USA-Phil.), in cooperation with AFP/PNP Ladies Club of Diego Silang Village and Kampilan Peacekeepers Association.
Filvets has established 11 medical outreach clinics spread nationwide consisting of 4 MOCs in Visayas, 4 MOCs in Mindanao and 3 MOCs in Luzon, to reach out to veterans and their spouses.
Filvets Cataract Operation Program is still ongoing in partnership with the Foundation For Sight Inc. headed by Dr. Victor Jose Caparas, an ophthalmologist laser and eye disease surgeon, and head of ophthalmology department of The Medical City hospital in Pasig City.
Filvets encourages veterans who have cataract to avail of this program, not to wait for cataract to thicken which causes difficulty in seeing. This program is the brainchild of the executive director with the support AFPSLAI and PVAO.
