PALAFOX honored at the 2015 CEO EXCEL Awards
Last September 14, 2015, architect-urban planner Felino “Jun” Palafox, Jr. was recognized as one of the recipients of the 2015 CEO EXCEL (Communication Excellence in Organizations) Award. Organized by the International Association of Business Communicator
The 2015 awardees, which also include Senator Grace Poe, The Philippine STAR president and CEO Miguel G. Belmonte, and 11 others, were chosen for their excellent and innovative use of strategic communication in their programs and projects. A natural communicator, Palafox has been able to articulate his ideas and disseminate pertinent information, both to his people and to the public. Bringing to the table his education, experience, and expertise, Palafox has championed disaster-preparedness in many ways: as a resource person for media, a forum speaker, a newspaper columnist, and a government consultant.
But it is his sincere concern for humanity that has really made him a credible voice in both architecture and planning. He has partnered with volunteer organizations to plan, design, and rebuild homes in disaster-stricken countries like Iran, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be recognized by the IABC. I am told that I may be the first architect and urban planner to be bestowed this award. I share this then with all other architects and planners. It has been my advocacy to share what I know about planning and design to make our cities more beautiful, efficient, and resilient. I value very much this recognition as it affirms that our message is being heard and appreciated,” said Palafox in his acceptance message read by his daughter, urban planner and Palafox Associates managing partner Karima Patricia Palafox. At that time, Palafox was representing the Philippines as a guest speaker at the Asia-Pacific Real Estate Conference 2015 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Palafox Jr. is the principal architect-urban planner of Palafox Associates and president of Palafox Architecture Group. His firms have been involved in the planning of more than 16 billion square meters of land and the design and architecture of more than 12 million square meters of building floor area in 38 countries. He earned his Architecture degree from the University of Santo Tomas and his Masters in Environmental Planning from the University of the Philippines. He also holds seven diplomas from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.
