AD/HD Society to hold 1st national awareness congress
The AD/ HD ( Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder) Society of the Philippines, in partnership with the National Commission on Disability Affairs, will hold its first National Awareness Congress on Oct. 19-24 with many guests and stakeholders expected to join the event at SM City Fairview QC Event Area.
With the theme “ADHD: A Hidden Disability – Alamin, Unawain, Tanggapin at Mahalin, the event hopes to provide support to individuals with AD/ HD, their families and caregivers through family empowerment, advocacy and networking with other stakeholders.
The AD/HD Society is aiming to develop and implement programs, projects and activities which promote the wellbeing of persons with AD/HD.
Health Secretary Janette Garin will be the keynote speaker during the opening ceremony on Oct. 19 to be graced by Dyords Javier and Jun Polistico.
Also on tap are the scientific congress (Understanding ADHD) on Oct. 20-21 from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Philippine Mental Health Association in QC (Day I) and at the OHSC at Mindanao Ave. cor. Agham Road, QC (Day 2) and the lay forum on drug abuse prevention: “ADHD Avoiding the Road to Addiction” on Oct. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m.
The regional conference on Reach and Teach ADHD will be held on Oct 23 at the Maharlika Hall of Biñan Elementary School with fee at P800 per personl.
The third week of October is celebrated as AD/HD Awareness Week under Presidential Proclamation No. 472.
