Bicol DPWH completes roads and bridges program
CARAMOAN, Camarines Sur — Residents of this coastal town have all the reasons to rejoice as the long awaited construction of President Aquino’s roads and bridges rehabilitation program here is now completed and passable to all kinds of vehicles.
Caramoan Mayor Constantino Cordial said that his constituents are very happy that the road sections have now been fully concreted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 3rd district engineering office headed by district engineer ( DE) Gemma Timbang after former DE Eduardo Nieto implemented the initial P400 million project released by DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson during his visit to Caramoan Peninsula five years ago.
As a tourist destination where the famous TV series “Survivor” was filmed in Gota Beach, Timbang said that last Sept. 5 over 500 vehicles from local government units and regional offices joined the historic caravan from barangay Sta. Cruz, Lagonoy town to Caramoan with a travel time of two hours, adding that three markers were placed along the road section at former Gov. Felix Fuentebella Highway.
The motorcade was in honor of the 100th birth anniversary of Gov. Fuentebella.
Timbang said that travel time from Naga City to Caramoan town was shortened by five hours drive, with preparation of plans and program of works still ongoing in the remaining gravel road of 0.1078km under the jurisdiction of the district and 7.099km under the regional office.
Cordial hailed the services of Raymond Transportation for providing airconditioned buses from Manila to Caramoan Peninsula and Naga City to Caramoan Peninsula, respectively, to accommodate the influx of foreign and local tourists.
