Groundbreaking corporate university hones new generation of leaders
First Pacific Leadership Academy
First Pacific Leadership Academy, the country’s first dedicated corporate university, has been recognized by the prestigious International Association of Conference Centers as being the first and only IACC member in the Philippines and the Southeast Asian region.
The Missouri-based IACC is an international organization whose main thrust is to promote and maintain quality standards in the “conference center and meetings” industry.
This honor clearly reflects the immeasurable amount of hard work and dedication poured in by the entire FPLA team to make the academy a top-class learning institute that adheres consistently to IACC’s international quality standards, principles and practices.
The academy, which has been in operation since early 2011, was designed to initially develop the emerging talents and leaders among First Pacific Co. Ltd., which is composed of corporations under the MVP Group of Companies that include Metro Pacific Investments Corp., Philex Mining Corp., Indofood, PLDT, Smart Communications, Meralco, and Maynilad, among others.
FPLA, however, has since opened up its doors to all organizations that seek expertise in leadership development.
“First Pacific Leadership Academy, under the initiative of chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, was envisioned to be the premier academic institution for higher education. It is to provide the best of both worlds – world-class facilities and a distinguished leadership program that embodies the spirit of excellence and leadership of MVP,” said Roy Agustin K. Evalle, FPLA executive director and First Pacific general manager for Leadership Succession and Development.
“Essentially, FPLA is here to hone talent and train future leaders. We are developing the next generation of CEOs and presidents.”
Evalle said FPLA takes pride in its well-crafted, customized programs, and management and leadership courses that aim to meet need-specific busi- ness challenges -whether for organizational development, people improvement, or longterm business growth.
“Our programs provide a solid foundation in key disciplines needed to help leaders and organizations evolve,” Evalle added.
Though still very much a young academy, FPLA has gained much ground as a leading academic institution for higher corporate education. Since it was established four and a half years ago, FPLA has helped over 100 senior executives complete the first to senior leadership modules of the flagship program, and has served more than 1,500 corporate clients, professional organizations, and local and international NGOs. Each and every client has seen and felt the positive change in themselves as well as their organizations.
Cementing its position as a premier academic institution, FPLA complements its curriculum with state-of-the-art facilities, which provide the perfect, stimulating environment for learning.
On the sprawling 10-hectare development sits five buildings, which house 14 function rooms that can accommodate groups of various sizes – from intimate round table meetings to venues that can gather up to 1,000 people.
