Midea aims to become top choice for air-conditioning needs of BPOs

Commercial air- conditioner manufacturer Midea is entering the flourishing Philippine business process outsourcing (BPO) industry and is eyeing to become the primary choice for BPO offices around the country. It has recently completed the installation of the second Midea V5X Series Variable Refrigerant Flow ( VRF) in the Philippines in the Iloilo branch of global BPO services provider Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS).

Raymond Lavarias, head of Building Solutions Partner (BSP) of Concepcion-Carrier Air Conditioning Co. (CCAC), noted that the features of the Midea V5X address the various needs of BPOs, from providing high-energy efficiency to maximize savings, to ensuring continuous uptime with reliable technology.

“The Midea V5X is ideal for establishments that operate 24/7 because of its integrated part load value (IPLV) rating of 7.5, one of the most energy efficient VRF solutions in the market. With its full direct current (DC) inverter technology, it consistently provides the ideal temperature for employees’ comfort while running at peak efficiency, resulting in lower operating costs compared to non-inverter air-conditioning,” said Lavarias.

He adds BPOs can count on the reliability of the Midea V5X, which cycles through the outdoor units while running at part load, maximizing the lifespan of the VRF units. He underlines that BPOs can minimize downtime with the system’s back-up function that allows the remaining units to continue working in the event that the master unit fails.

“The Midea V5X is ideal for voice- based BPOs with its low noise operation. It also uses the refrigerant R410A, a non-ozone depleting substance that makes the technology sustainable and ensures a safe and healthy workplace for a BPO’s employees,” Lavarias said.

Midea’s commercial air-conditioning solutions form part of the portfolio of Concepcion Building and Industrial Solutions, which delivers end- to- end solutions from heating, ventilation, and airconditioning (HVAC) to elevators and escalators. Concepcion BIS was awarded the project to install and maintain the air-conditioning system of HGS as it expanded offices in Iloilo.

Antonio Dela Cruz Jr., senior vice president for finance and corporate services of HGS Philippines, said, “Concepcion BIS has excellent customer service. Any concern regarding the equipment is coursed through their customer service representatives, and we are pleased with their after-sales support because issues and maintenance requests are attended to immediately.”

Aside from installing the airconditioning system, Concepcion BIS is also providing HGS with quality after-sales services, which include maintenance of the airconditioning system and training of HGS technicians who can ensure regular monitoring and maintenance of the air-conditioning equipment to prolong its life span and decrease its chances of breaking down.

“Regularly maintained air-conditioning systems enable building operators to save on operating costs and allow them to get a quick return on their investment within just a few years,” Lavarias added.

“We are seeing a huge opportunity for Midea to become a strong competitor in the VRF market, and combined with Concepcion BIS’s end-to-end solutions, we believe that one of the ways that we can continue on this path is by becoming the top choice of BPO offices anywhere in the Philippines. The Midea V5X brings cost-efficient and reliable technology that caters to the specific needs of BPOs and ensures their smooth operations,” said Rajan Komarasu, CEO of Concepcion BIS.

The Midea V5X requires fewer outdoor units compared to its competitors, thus saves up on installation space and minimizes installation and maintenance costs. It has a maximum capacity of 22HP per air- cooled condensing unit (ACCU) and 88HP per system.
