Gun license processing at 23rd DSAS

-

Gun enthusiasts are again expected to storm the 23rd Defense & Sporting Arms Show (DSAS), considered the longest running and most prestigious gun show in the country, to be held on Nov. 11 to 15, 2015 at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Firearms with modern features and other shooting paraphernalia will take the center stage with more than 50 biggest gun manufacturers and dealers accredited by the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD) participating in the event.

AFAD coined this year’s DSAS theme: “My Family, My Choice. Protection of my family is my duty.”

According to Joy GutierrezJose, the second DSAS for 2015 breaks the tradition by setting the event’s opening date on Nov. 11, which falls on a Wednesday, and ends on the 15th, a Sunday. “This is to give the PNP ample time to undertake their preparations for the upcoming APEC Summit,” Jose said.

The PNP, through the Civil Security Group (CSG) and the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO), has been a traditional partner of the AFAD in the past gun show events.

In coordination with AFAD officials, Director General Ricardo Marquez, PNP chief, approved anew the holding of the PNP Caravan at the 23rd DSAS to help gun owners secure the License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) in the gun show venue which is conveniently located in a shopping mall.

Dino Rodriguez, AFAD vice president, noted that compared to the previous years, the processing system of LTOPF applications was improved drastically as a result of the streamlining of requirements and improvements in the processing procedures set by the PNP.

As a gesture of appreciation for their heroism and contribution to the country’s peace and order, AFAD will honor the fallen “SAF 44.”

AFAD also prepared a raffle for lucky gun show visitors with exciting prices at stake.
