SSS taps Unionbank for salary loans card

- By KATHLEEN A. MARTIN

Social Security System (SSS) has made it easier for members to receive salary loan releases after it has partnered with Aboitiz-led Union Bank of the Philippines (Unionbank).

SSS president and CEO Emilio de Quiros Jr. said the partnership would allow members to receive approved salary loans through the Unionbank Quick Card instead of waiting for their checks from the agency.

“It’s very important that we continue to explore avenues and options so that we could provide better services to our members,” De Quiros said.

He said Unionbank Quick Card would be a faster, more efficient, more secure mechanism of getting salary loan releases from the SSS. “Our new partnership would provide an efficient, very fast delivery, and a safe mechanism for delivering the salary loans,” De Quiros said.

The Unionbank Quick Card is initially being offered at SSS branches in Diliman, Quezon City; Makati- Gil Puyat; and Pasig-Shaw.

SSS assistant vice president for member loans department Boobie Angela Ocay said the agency plans to extend the service to other SSS branches nationwide once the process and system are running smoothly.

The SSS-Unionbank Quick Card would be linked to the member’s personal Unionbank savings account which would be opened as part of the salary loan application with the pension fund.
