Rhian Ramos races against pro triathlete in Full Throttle x Merrell ‘Trekathlon’

-

Actress and TV Host Rhian Ramos recently participated in a triathlon spin- off and went neck- to- neck with pro triathlete Monica Torres in a recent episode of the History Channel’s Full Throttle. In a battle of beauty and brawns, Ramos and Torres competed in three legs of what was dubbed as the Full Throttle x Merrell “Trekathlon” at El Kabayo, Subic.

The Trekathlon consisted of three stages made exciting with components such as parasailing, hiking, and off-road driving - a nod at Merrell’s consistent performance as a global leader in outdoor shoes and apparel. Racing against currents and under the scorching sun, the two ladies hammered their jetskis and from rugged pick-up trucks in a battle for trekathlon supremacy that was ultimately decided in a trek going to El Kabayo Falls.

From the hike to the finish, Ramos and Torres were joined by their energetic team mates: Trail Adventours guide Ramel Ng and Marketing Associate for Merrell, Marinella Mallari for Team Monica while Chise Alcantara of FHM and Ysa Chong of Chalk, were made members of Team Rhian.

Torres, who has topped the Cobra Ironman 70.3 for several years, shares her experience with the first trekathlon and says that the trekathlon “was still very physically challenging. It’s very different from my sport, triathlon, but it’s also similar in a lot of ways. You just have to be ready and think on your feet, react quickly, and see what you can do.”

Together, both teams raced over the trails of El Kabayo in an all- out battle for the finish line. Ramos, who sported a Merrell pair commented that the “shoe was really easy to put on. They handled the water great. I was stomping around in mud, water, and everything. And the best part – I didn’t have to tie them. I have the little drawstring strap on them and so that made my life easy.”

Full Throttle is the first Filipino-produced motoring show at History Channel driven to deliver a fresh take on the motoring industry by featuring vehicles, celebrities, and exciting challenges. Merrell is available in the following concept stores at TriNoma, SM North EDSA - Annex, Market!
