Pine-Sol takes part in cleanup drive to save Manila Bay

-

Wearing gloves, boots and straw hats employees of Clorox International Philippines Inc., the manufacturer of Pine-Sol Cleaner, braved the heat recently to join a throng of students, sociocivic organizations as well as NGO volunteers at the 30th International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) drive along Manila Bay’s coastline.

The event did not aspire to collect the most number of trash and debris after the activity; rather, it focused on creating awareness and rallying people about the need to save our oceans and to take action for trash-free seas. The activity also provided a chance for the participants to experience camaraderie while removing trash and marine debris from beaches, shorelines as well as waterways and underwater sites.

The coastal clean-up drive in Manila Bay began at around 6 a.m. and was over in just a few hours. One of the employee-volunteers to the event, who was among those who helped organize the team from Pine-Sol Cleaner, expressed satisfaction for the outcome of the activity, saying, “I am so happy to have been a part of this event. Although it had really been a very tiring activity, it made me feel fulfilled knowing that even in my own small way, I was able to contribute in helping save the earth,” beamed the pretty lady executive.

Pine-Sol Cleaner has offered to help cleanup and eliminate the bad smell of the area along the sidewalk where the garbage had been gathered and picked-up.

“Our employees’ participation in this cleanup activity is not only in fulfillment of our corporate social pesponsibility program. It also forms part of our company culture,” said Marites Dagdag, president of Clorox International Philippines Inc. “We actively participate in cleanup activities like these, such as in the coastal cleanup in Boracay a few years back, as well as in the Salba Bote project of Meralco.”

She adds, “Clorox as a company has an advocacy to help make people’s lives better every day, and it also plays out in many ways, such as in the brands we introduce in the Philippine market. Pine-Sol Cleaner, for one, is a perfect embodiment of this advocacy since it fits the part that cleaners play in cleaning the world.”

Pine-Sol is an all-purpose cleaner that has 4x cleaning action: disinfects, deodorizes, cuts through grease and cuts through grime. Its concentrated formula also allows users to save on cash since it can be diluted in different strengths yet still be effective for various cleaning goals.
