From cowboys to bikers — this brand loves the wanderer

- By IGAN D’BAYAN

I t is a long way from the rodeo pen to the proud, proud highway. Daisy Go, president of Wrangler Philippines, says it best: “We’ve gone from the iconic cowboy to the more modern rider — we’ve redesigned the brand to suit contemporary times.”

As Wrangler celebrates its 40th year in the Philippines, Go says that the true-blue American denim company is holding its first-ever, one-day Thanksgiving sale today in its stores and boutiques. “We’ve priced it at P995 per pair of jeans because it is so hard to find a good pair of denims below P1,000. It is irresistibly affordable for everyone.”

From simply being a travel-rugged-outdoorsy brand, Wrangler jeans have been reimagined and renovated to appeal to a younger market. There are also lots of feminine cuts — in case the lady bikers are feeling left out.

The Wrangler executive will tell you that the brand DNA centers on freedom and having a fearless spirit of adventure. “It’s all about being instinctive, about facing challenges, and always being ready for action. So it just naturally fits that Wrangler’s mission has always been to deliver expertly crafted, stylish and functional denim that gives each wearer the feeling of freedom and unlimited possibilities to explore.”

And, as always, the consumers are the driving forces that push it to create more and do better.

Go concludes, “As for the future, our goal is to have more presence in Visayas and Mindanao, as well as to work on increasing online sales in the next three to five years.” For the Wrangler gang, the key is to keep on keepin’ on.
