Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. ( PLDT) has partnered with US-based Akamai, the world’s biggest content delivery network (CDN) provider, to boost the Internet experience of enterprises in the country through faster content availability and access.

Distributed in over 110 countries, the Akamai Intelligent Platform delivers secure, high-performing web experiences on any device from any location.

Through the partnership, enterprises will likewise reduce the risk of data theft due to the extensive suite of web security solutions available.

The partnership with Akamai is seen timely given the increasing use of digital channels by enterprises to reach their markets.

“Today, digital content -- whether it’s video, other shareable visuals, or even other online applications – has proven to be an indispensable tool for companies to reach their customers,” Jovy Hernandez, PLDT first vice president and head of PLDT Alpha Enterprise said.

“Our alliance with Akamai puts us in the perfect position to support our enterprise clients as they leverage on digital technology to create more meaningful connections with their own customers, by enabling them to optimize web and mobile user experiences,” he added.

Through the partnership, PLDT would leverage on Akamai’s reach and scale as it has more than 200,000 servers globally, the biggest number among CDN service providers to date.

Graeme Beardsell, managing director for markets Asia Pacific and Japan at Akamai Technologies said the partnership is in line with the two parties’ aim to help enterprises in growing their businesses and promoting their brands.

“With an increasing number of users going online to shop, complete banking transactions, connect via social networks and access content, companies need to be able to provide fast, reliable and secure experiences to their customers across devices,” Beardsell said.
