A whole new world for moms

-

100% Whole Mom is a passion project conceived by three moms — Marilen Faustino- Montetengro, Cheska Garcia-Kramer, and Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio — who believe that while there is no such thing as perfect motherhood, it also isn’t impossible to go about it unbrokenly. That is, if a mother accepts the fact that she can only freely give as she freely receives, and is able to love as much as she herself is loved.

Manifesting this advocacy in a series of workshops, each mom in this team of three is tasked with topics concerning different areas of the mom life: home, beauty, and heart. The workshops are intended to run five times in a year, with no more than 40 participants each time and two media event breaks in between.

Last month, Whole Mom met with the second batch of participants at the Unit 27 Apartment Bar and Café. Fun facts about the women were gathered during the online registration and divulged to the community that day, creating laughter and camaraderie. “Personally, it was one of my most favorite moments — to know these women not simply as participants, or as moms, but as unique and interesting individuals,” shares Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio.

Soon as the ice broke, Marilen Faustino-Montenegro began her session on home. This always sparks the most questions from participants, perhaps because everyone is at a loss when it comes to effective decluttering and organization.

Coming next was Cheska Garcia-Kramer’s demo on personal makeup application, which was simple enough to be understood even by the most clueless of moms.

The last session of the day was taught by Rica, who tackled the ways by which a mother can ensure her emotional well-being, “It is great to know how to organize the home, to embrace your beauty, but let us not forget the internal importance of our hearts,” Rica asserts.

Each batch of moms is encouraged to create forums and develop friendships where they can continue to share and help themselves. Whole Mom believes this is a step closer to its vision of building a community of secure, confident, and empowered moms.
