The National Housing Authority (NHA) is the government’s lead agency in direct shelter production to service the lowest 30 percent of the country’s urban population. In support of the National Housing Program, it also helps local government units in the implementation of housing programs such as in the identification, acquisition and disposition of lands for socialized housing, relocation, resettlement, financing and engaging private sector participation.

The NHA has developed AITECH, a system for accrediting innovative technologies for housing using non-traditional, alternative and/or indigenous materials and systems with the end view of helping reduce over-all housing costs.

This will be the centerpiece of the upcoming monthly business meeting of the Chamber of Real Estate & Builders’ Associations Inc. (CREBA) to be held at the Bahia Ballroom of the Hotel Inter- continental during luncheon tomorrow, Nov. 26. “This MBM will provide our membership, composed of property developers, builders, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers of construction materials, real estate service practitioners and other professionals and entities engaged in more than 70 allied fields insights on how to maximize opportunities for public-private collaboration for socialized housing delivery through the use of available technologies and materials that are indigenous to the Philippines,” the two CREBA leaders said.

The Chamber conducts monthly business meetings (MBMs) on the last Thursday of each month as a forum for all members and government officials to express their views and initiatives on issues affecting the real estate industry. They provide a venue for members to be updated about recent industry and national developments and other pertinent information. The activity is organized through the internal affairs group headed by Techie Bautista, vice president.
