SM Foundation renovates Camp Aquino Station Hospital

-

A military ward of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) Camp Aquino Station Hospital in Tarlac becomes the 14th AFP improved facility and the 106th Felicidad T Sy Wellness Center of the SM Foundation.

CASH (Camp Aquino Station Hospital), a level-1 hospital facility capable of performing general surgical operations is a major partner of Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) in providing continuous quality health services to uniformed personnel, their dependents and authorized civilians for 67 years.

CASH was built on Oct. 15, 1948 and designated as 2nd Station Hospital, AFP with a 25-bed capacity. On Dec. 11, 1959 the hospital was renamed Army Station Hospital and reorganized into a 100-bed capacity facility.

Because of its deterioration due lack of funding, it was downgraded to a 50- bed hospital. With the renovation and refurbishing, it is now being considered for upgrading back to its 100-bed capacity noting the improved facilities and upgraded workforce of 70 composed of 13 officers, 10 enlisted personnel, 45 civilian employees and two others under contract.

Now, it is a DOH licensed hospital operating as a Level 1 hospital and PHIC accredited as center for safety. Presently, CASH still functions under the supervision of Northern Luzon Command, under the watch of Mgen Glorioso V Miranda AFP, Commander, NOLCOM.

As a primary level of health care, the station hospital performs referral in the form of medical evacuation to higher echelon of care for advance medical procedure and diagnostics to patients as part of its mission.

CASH is instrumental in promulgating innumerable projects of other government and non-government agencies by extending help to the less fortunate through health programs ( medical missions), medical assistance and services.

At the inauguration of the improved hospital, SMFI executive director for health & medical programs Connie Angeles announced the inclusion of the hospital in its maintenance program of all SM-donated health facilities and school buildings.

Angeles that the maintenance crew of her office will make yearly visits to check on the condition of the hospital, drawing warm applause from the enlisted personnel of the station hospital.

Camp Aquino Station Hospital, headed by its commanding officer, Col Getulio J Santos Jr., Medical Corps looks forward to better and more improved health services for its clientele.
