Filvets, Phividec medical mission in CDO on Nov 30

The Filipino War Veterans Foundation Inc. ( Filvets) through its medical outreach clinic (MOC) No. 1 covering the area of Region X will participat­e in a medical- dental mission to be sponsored by the Philippine Veterans Investment Developmen­t Corp. – Industrial Authority (PHIVIDEC) headed by chairman BGen. Triunfo Agustin AFP (Ret) scheduled at Lim Kit Kai Convention Center, Cagayan de Oro City on Nov. 30, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Filvets team will be led by Lt. Gen. Raul Urgello AFP (Ret), the executive director and COO, with a staff of doctors and pharmacist­s in the distributi­on of medicines and health aid devices.

This mission will be undertaken with the aim of PHIVIDEC- IA to provide medical- dental healthcare services and assistance for the benefit of veterans/ retired soldiers and their dependents.

Free medical healthcare services available during the mission are medical consultati­on, blood sugar test, bone density examinatio­n, blood pressure test, dental checkup and tooth extraction. Free medicines for hypertensi­on, coronary heart disease, respirator­y ailments, osteoporos­is, arthritis, diabetes, infection, aches and pains will be given to benefi ciaries. Health aid devises such as wheelchair­s and walking canes will also be given on- need basis to qualified veterans and dependents.

Filvets had establishe­d 11 MOCs spread nationwide with four MOCs in Mindanao, four in Visayas and three in Luzon to provide free medical healthcare assistance for veterans.

To address the common eye cataract disease of the veterans. Filvets cataract surgery program is still ongoing, in partnershi­p with the Foundation of Sight, Inc. headed by Dr. Victor Caparas, the chief ophthalmol­ogist of The Medical City hospital where the cataract surgery is done using modern technology.
