Is love all that Kris needs?

What’s the best Christmas gift that she can give herself? ‘Time to be a normal, hands-on, caring mom.’ And what’s her New Year’s resolution? ‘To be more loving and lovable, caring and compassionate, peace-loving and peaceful, forgiving and forgivable.’

- with Ricky Lo

The Year of the Sheep was (take note: past tense since there are only 11 days more left) was admittedly not a good year for Kris Aquino who, despite some setbacks, continues to reign supreme as Queen of All Media. She quit

Aquino & Abunda Tonight, her nightly ABS-CBN showbiz-news show with soul mate Boy Abunda (but continues to host her morning show Kris TV), due to poor health (from stress and too much work); landed in the hospital a few times; and seemed to have given up on love (blame it on the “indecisive” good mayor of Quezon City?).

Hopefully, the emerging Year of the Monkey should be luckier and more prosperous for Kris whose diurnal activities are religiously monitored by the public from her regular postings on social media. She’s a Metal Pig (turning 45 on Feb. 14 next year). According to the Chinese Horoscope, “Metal, being the hardest of the elements, gives the Pig an air of firmness, rigidity, persistence, strength and determination. The Metal Pig(s) can be controlling, ambitious, forceful and set in their ways. They are often more self-reliant and prefer to handle their problems alone.” (Kris’ son Joshua is also a Metal Pig and other son Bimby is a Fire Pig).

The title of her Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, Star Cinema’s All You Need is Pag-ibig, aptly describes what’s lacking in Kris’ life. She has fame and fortune, and everything any girl could wish for… except somebody to love and love her back.

According to a tabloid report yesterday, while Kris was at the hospital recently, a "mystery" admirer(?) sent her comfort food. In her Instagram, Kris thanked the gift-giver for her favorite lechon, hinting that she and “that guy" were all right again, thanks to Bimby who paved the way for the "reconciliation." At the height of the typhoon, Bimby reportedly asked his mom if there were no classes and Kris told him to ask the person in the position to answer him... who else but Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, right?

Asked if she was ending the year on a happy note hy renewing her "friendship" with HB, Kris answered, "My happiness isn't friendship with HB. It's achieving peace."

Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, All You Need is Pag-ibig also stars Bimby, her favorite leading man and good friend Derek Ramsay, Xian Lim and Kim Chiu, Jodi Sta. Maria and Ian Veneracion, Ronaldo Valdez and Nova Villa and Pokwang, and Concio sisters Julia and Talia.

As Kris gets ready to ring out the old and ring in the new, she takes a misty-eyed look at the past 12 months and casts a bright-eyed look at the year ahead... and beyond.

How would you assess year 2015?
